Next up in our exciting string of welcomes, we are happy to announce and bring on our second of three fantastic and qualified summer interns: Mira McKee!

Mira McKee, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in marketing and minoring in government, is thrilled to be joining #TeamJWA. Though she now goes to school in Austin, she grew up just north of Dallas and is so excited to be joining such a creative team in the downtown area for the summer.

Our newest intern Mira!

During her time at UT Austin, Mira has been involved in various student organizations, worked on numerous creative projects, and gained a plethora of marketing and social media skills through her multiple internship experiences at non-profits, startups, and even a political campaign.

This past semester, Mira led a team of marketing students in providing marketing strategy as an Account Manager for an Austin startup called Seekr, interned at a political advocacy non-profit called Texas Freedom Network, and served as a Social Media Staffer at the largest student-run publication at UT, ORANGE magazine.

For the past two years, she has also served as a Peer Mentor for McCombs Success Scholars, an academic support program and diversity initiative within the business school that aims to provide more opportunities for low-income, first generation, or otherwise disadvantaged students. Next year, instead of going into her fourth mentoring role, she’ll be strengthening the MSS brand and working on increasing the social presence of her favorite organization on campus as their Social Media & Marketing Intern.

Throughout her college career, Mira has also maintained a high involvement in the UT Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association, Texas AMA. In her third year, she served as the Social Media Officer for the organization, where she strategically maintained the Texas AMA brand and increased their social presence across various channels. Going into her fourth year, she’ll be taking over as the Agency Director for the Texas AMA Agency Program, a student-run agency that pairs local Austin clients in need of marketing assistance to diverse, qualified student teams, and managing their experiences together.

In her free time, when she’s not studying at a coffee shop, she’s probably spending too much money on concert tickets (she has over 15 planned for this year alone!), trying to keep up with her ever-growing book list, or going on a road trip with family or friends.

We cannot wait for her to let her creativity flow and get started here at J. Waylon & Associates!
