Fashion, cocktails and philanthropy? That is what Dallas does best.

Mario Gallegos, best known for his design studio in Deep Ellum, marveled local fashionistas at his most recent chicano-inspired fashion show in Fair Park. Sponsored by our client Kruto Vodka, Gallegos featured retro fabrics and silhouettes that took the audience on a journey to the past.

Gallegos debuted his “La New Onda” collection on March 16th at the Margo Jones Theater to a packed house of fashion gurus, stylists and local personalities. The show, entitled “Forever and Evermore,” pays tribute to iconic Latino trends from the 1940’s.

Michael Gonzalez and his team at Visual Voice Media captured the essence of the evening in a highlight video.

Kruto Vodka kept the crowds partying with signature cocktails that payed homage to Gallegos’ theme. Crafted onsite by Kruto mixologists, The Daddy-Oh! and El Chuco were smashing hits – fruity and fresh libations that complimented the sounds and ambiance designed by local celebrity stylist and show producer Willie Johnson. Gallegos envisioned bringing back the style of the well-dressed Latinx of the 1940’s, and enthused spectators welcomed the new way of Latino culture and style with a mixture of Pachuco suits, Puerto Rican pompadours and chola-inspired garb.

Proceeds of the event went to a fashion design scholarship at Gallegos’ alma mater, El Centro College.
